Why Is Christianity Different?

Why is Christianity different than every other religion? The one main thing that sets Christianity apart from any other religion is the fact that it's based on your relationship with Christ through what He did for you. It's not based on your actions and what you can do for Him. It's based on an action of love Jesus took for just for you.

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NKJV)

You can now have a relationship with God who loved you while you were still sinner (Romans 5:8). He loved you before, loves you now, and will love you forever. There's nothing you can do ever to change that. It's not based on what you can do to get right with God, but on the simple fact that He loved you first (1 John 4:19). That doesn't give anyone a license to sin, but it helps all of us realize that it could never be based on our own power, but on Christ alone. You would have never been able to reach that standard.

When you realize that and pursue a genuine relationship with Him, you will want to walk in His word and truth. You will want to follow what He set before you. God didn't send Jesus to die for you just because it would make a cool story. He sent Jesus for you because He wants a personal relationship with you. He wants to be your best friend, your provider, your place of peace and so much more.

And God is able to make all grace [every favor and earthly blessing] come in abundance to you, so that you may always [under all circumstances, regardless of the need] have complete sufficiency in everything [being completely self-sufficient in Him], and have an abundance for every good work and act of charity.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (AMP)

Many Christians will live this life never fully knowing who He is because they don't see the importance and beauty of pursuing a relationship with Christ. Again, Christianity isn’t meant to be based on your works to get right with God. Christianity is all about discovering and growing a relationship with the Creator.

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3 (NKJV)

When you have a revelation of God’s love for you and discover that you don’t need to work for it, a peace that only comes from Him will follow. That peace can be your guide as you continue to walk in Him and build your trust in Him. This world will try and offer you other ways but they will always be temporary. Only when you put your trust in Christ and his sacrifice will you be able to walk in peace beyond understanding (Philippians 4:7). His peace will always hold true despite what your circumstances may look like, if we welcome the Lord into our situations. You are already victorious in Christ because of what He did for you and it all started with an action of love God took so He could have a full relationship with you!

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.

Zephaniah 3:17 (ESV)
